Success

Imagine this scenario… Your name has been ticked on the register at the door and a badge has been slapped on your jacket ready to announce to the room who you are and how exactly you can be of use to anyone. Having been directed to the table of coffee and croissants you automatically walk over and help yourself, only realizing afterwards that you don’t have enough limbs to carry your coffee, croissant AND bag whilst still being able to do the obligatory shaking of hands with everyone you meet. You don’t even know why you picked up a croissant. You’ve already had breakfast and your mouth is so dry and your stomach so unsettled that eating anything right now is clearly going to be disastrous. Placing the croissant back down on the table and hoping no-one saw you pick it up in the first place, you scour the room. Groups of people are huddled together in a seemingly relaxed state like they’ve known each other forever. There’s a buzz of chatting, laughing, handshakes, business cards…they all seem to be having a whale of a time. But for you? This situation makes your heart sink to your knees. You’ve got to go up to these people. These strangers, that you’ve never met before. And chat, sell yourself, exude confidence, charisma and charm. You’ve never felt more out of your comfort zone in your life. And as you stand there staring at the busy room, you think to yourself – ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ Hmm, fun, right? NOT! Early on in my start-up journey I soon realized that running a business holds many challenges for the gentle dreamers of this world. For starters, as someone who is quiet, introverted and at times shy, the idea of attending huge networking events as a way to market my business (something that so many business blogs encourage) makes me want to run for the hills and never look back. Not only that, but the time and energy needed to set up and run a business can be incredibly draining and overwhelming for introverts. From marketing, to accounts, to customer service… at the beginning of your business development, there’s lots to learn, do, tweak, try, and get your head around. If not careful you can burn out before you’ve even got going. And yet, despite this, I still believe that becoming your own boss is a wonderful option for the quiet types of this world. When I first started a business I knew I was going in the right direction from the moment I took my initial tentative steps. Leaving behind the exhausting open plan offices and hectic schedules of full time employment allowed me to find the freedom and peace I’d been looking for throughout my entire career. It meant I could work from home, find blissful solitude when I needed it, and create my own rules to live and work by. And I guess that’s the point really. Because when you’re the boss. YOU get to choose how, why and when you do things. It doesn’t matter how many business blogs I read that tell me I should be getting out there and networking face-to-face at big conferences. I never do. Instead I choose what’s right for me. I listen to my body and give myself what I need. And I take steps to ensure that my business nourishes who I am rather than leaving me empty. If you want to do the same, the tips below for introvert business owners will help you honor who you are, create a business that brings you joy, and keep your quiet determination at an all time high. It’s all about looking after the gorgeous individual that you are. Because when you do that? Your business will certainly reap the rewards. 1. Focus on your natural strengths I really believe that getting to the heart of your natural strengths and using them within your business is one of the best things you can do for your success and career happiness. Work will feel easier, you’ll get far more done with less effort, and ultimately your life will be filled with far more joy and fulfillment. When I first launched I found myself attending lots of big networking events, which only served to drain my energy and knock my confidence. However, after a while I realised I would gain far better results by focusing on the marketing strategies where I really thrived such as blogging and social media. The result was that I felt less overwhelmed, more energised, and a whole lot happier (which also happened to mean I got way more done!) 2. Set boundaries to protect your energy When running a business it can be very easy to end up working crazy hours, seeing people every day, and generally working every spare moment you’ve got. However, as an introvert it is imperative that you have regular quiet time to reflect, get inspired, and re-charge your batteries. As you run your business make sure you build quiet time into your week. Think of solitude as an important part of your self-care routine and set boundaries to ensure you give yourself the time and space you need. I limit the amount of face-to face meetings I have each week, I use email and social media for the vast majority of my communication, and I ensure that I get out and go for a walk at least once a day (which is normally when I have all my best ideas!). The more self-aware you are of which activities drain your energy, the more you can shape your business to work well for who you are. 3. Connect with others who ‘get’ you Even introverts need people and connecting with others who really understand what it’s like to be in your shoes can help to maintain a healthy mind-set and get the support you need when things don’t go to plan. As an introvert I found that becoming a member of supportive online communities helped enormously when my motivation took a nose-dive or I needed a second opinion. There is something very special about being able to share a similar way of thinking with other people, and building connections with others (even if it is just online) can really give you a boost on those days when you need it. A lot of my first clients also came from these groups which goes to show that connecting with others in supportive communities can be good, not only for your mind-set, but also for your bank balance. ***** Running a business as an introvert certainly has its challenges, but if you get the self-care balance right it can also be an amazing career option for the quiet types of this world. Work with your strengths, give your body what it needs, and don’t forget that important time alone. You’ll be creating a nourishing business in no time. Kathryn x P.S. wikiHow Contributor Discover the reason for the employee's laziness. Sometimes a shift in management style or communication with an employee will help you yield more positive results. Making sure your employees are both heard and properly incentivized will help make a productive work environment. The employee may simply have a lazy work ethic, or abuse a workplace when he/she doesn't have the right consequences or supervision. Make sure your employees know the expectations, and the consequences of not fulfilling said expectations (whether it be a warning, a demotion, or possibly termination). There has to be a reward for if they surpass expectations as well (whether it be a bonus, commission, praise, promotion, time off, or simply increasing your trust in the employee). Thanks! I believe one of my best career experiences was the progression through the various business management roles, requiring me to complete two separate grill interviews.  This enabled me, nine months after joining the London office, to combine my current skills set and apply for and obtain a promotion within a new department at the Corporate Head Office, UK IT Infrastructure, as vendor services administrator.

Apportioning costs Here’s a simple method for calculating this. Add up all the claimable costs, multiply this by the percentage of rooms you use for work, and multiply this by the percentage of time you use these rooms. E.g if you have a 10 room home and you use one for business 90% of the time the calculation is: total claimable costs X 10% (one room out of 10) X 90% (usage).

Delegate responsibilities. You can’t do everything yourself, so delegate the various jobs and responsibilities to qualified employees. Small businesses often require employees to take on many tasks and responsibilities that may not fall firmly in their areas of expertise. It is often helpful to break your business' overall operations down into specific functions and delegate those functions to various employees or members of your team. Also, when delegating responsibilities, make sure you are assigning oversight of a specific function to a qualified individual. For example, you would not want an accountant representing you in a legal matter or a lawyer balancing your financial books. Thinking of your business functions in this way should also help you identify your needs when you are in the process of hiring employees.

In an interview with CCM Magazine, John Cooper described the new album as "a roller coaster ride". He states: "We have aggressive tracks, artsy and musical tracks, which is new territory for Skillet. A couple songs are classic American heartland anthems, and a couple songs are signature symphonic-classical rock Skillet. Guitars are dirty and edgier, with absolute shredding solos by Seth." One of the songs mentioned in the interview was titled "Salvation".

Melt the butter, 4 ounces of chocolate chips, and the unsweetened chocolate together in a medium bowl set over simmering water. Set aside for 15 minutes. In a large bowl, stir (do not beat) together the eggs, coffee, vanilla and sugar. Stir the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and allow to cool to room temperature.

All sandwiches are served with generous portion of either seasoned fries, coleslaw, pinto beans, or soup. Add a trip to our soup and salad bar for an additional cost.

Skillet's eighth album, Awake, contains twelve songs and was released on August 25, 2009. It charted at No. 2 on the Billboard top 200 selling around 68,000 units in its first week. "Monster" was released as a single on July 14, 2009. Contrary to popular belief, John Cooper stated that "Hero" was not the album's lead single. It was, however, released as a single in March 2010. They also released a deluxe version with the extra songs "Dead Inside" and "Would It Matter", along with the original, radio edit of "Monster" that does not have the distorted growl as in the single and in the CD. A remix on "Monster" was featured on one of their popular podcasts. The song "Hero" was used in the publicizing of the first football game of the 2009 NFL season between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans, and the song "Monster" was used in the episode "Jason: The Pretty-Boy Bully" on MTV's Bully Beatdown. "Monster" was the theme song for the WWE event WWE Hell in a Cell while the song "Hero" was the theme song for WWE Tribute to the Troops and Royal Rumble 2010, as well as both songs being included on the official soundtrack for the WWE video game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010. "Monster" would also become the theme song for the AHL team the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland, Ohio, being played in the player intros and after a Lake Erie goal, and serves as the opening theme of the Fresno Monsters of Fresno, California. "Monster" was aired at the beginning of several ACC football games on Raycom Sports during the 2009 season. The song would become a marching band recording and be performed by schools all across the country because of its booming sound and lyrics. In the first week of April 2010, "Monster" was released for the Rock band music store in Rock Band 2 It also tied the record for highest-charting Christian album on the Billboard 200 with Underoath's 2006 release Define the Great Line and Casting Crowns' 2007 release The Altar and the Door, as all three albums debuted at No. 2.

On February 14, 2011, Skillet officially announced that longtime lead guitarist Ben Kasica would be leaving the band. Kasica was with the band for 10 years, contributing to the albums Alien Youth, Collide, Comatose, and Awake as well as the live album Comatose Comes Alive. He played what was planned to be his last concert with the band on March 20. The band announced that they had chosen solo artist Jonathan Salas as their new guitarist, but Salas confirmed he had left the band on April 9 via Twitter. Kasica returned and continued touring until a new guitarist was trained. On April 16, Seth Morrison replaced Kasica as the lead guitarist, and now tours full-time with Skillet.

The band released their first worship album, and fourth album overall, Ardent Worship in late 2000. The band kept much of their sound from Invincible on their next album Alien Youth. With little time between touring and recording, Skillet released Alien Youth on August 28, 2001, which was the first album that John Cooper took on production duties. Before the release of Alien Youth, Haaland left the band, and Ben Kasica took over on guitar. The first single, the title track, was a major hit in the Christian market and drove Skillet into their first headlining shows.

Skillet formed in 1996 with two members: John Cooper, former vocalist for Tennessee progressive rock band Seraph, and Ken Steorts, former guitarist for Urgent Cry. The two bands met through touring together, but those bands disbanded soon after, so John and Ken's pastor encouraged them to form their own band as a side-project. Coming from different styles of rock music, they decided to name the experiment Skillet. After, Trey McClurkin joined the band as a temporary drummer. Skillet was only together for a month when they received interest from major Christian record label ForeFront Records. In 1996 they released a self-titled debut Skillet. It was well-received, and the trio continued to write new material as they toured the United States. One topic that comes up often among fans and the band itself, is the name 'Skillet'. John Cooper, the lead vocalist, explains that it was a joke at first. Each starting band member was already in a separate band, and all decided to start a side project. Since each other band had a different sound and style to it, the side project was said to be like putting all of those styles in a big skillet to come up with something unique, hence the band name 'Skillet'. The band name is still somewhat of a joke between the band members, especially Cooper, who claims to still not like the title.

There’s always a second (or third) point of view on any issue or idea. Look at the top stories on any of the major news publications. They all polarize people. As Tim Farris wrote, “If you make threaten people’s 3 Bs—behavior, belief or belongings—you get a huge virus-like dispersion.”

Istiak Rayhan Hi Ankit, The last two points are solid gold. Almost every newbie blogger makes these mistakes, especially not monetizing blog from day 1. This point is underrated. No problogger talks about it. I think every blogger should think about monetizing their blog from day 1 rather waiting for traffic. It lets them experiment different monetization ways and find out what works for them. I somehow disagree with the first point. Cause what works for me might not work for you. It’s tough to choose the monetization method just by researching competitors’ sites. Sometimes it requires a/b testings. However, you’ve written an excellent piece. Loved it. Keep it coming.

People love to read passionate writers, even if the topic isn’t necessarily something they have an interest in. Write about what you have passion for. Even if you think no one will read it because it’s a niche topic, write.

Raja kumar Hey, Virat!1 In the webinar, HE says that focus on making the Authority Blog! Well, that should be applicable for the niches like Blogging, Content Marketing, SEO, and some other highly competitive niches. Even though you monetize that kind of Blogs, nothing will happen in its initial days. So, that was a waste of effort. When it comes to some other niches, How to Blogs, health, and Tech niches, you can monetize your Blog right from its very first day to earn some buck. Is something better than nothing, right? So, What Ankit intent is In the industries like Blog, SEO, content Marketing, Email Marketing monetizations like display ads won’t work. You can generate money through your leads. By selling goods and sharing your tools to earn affiliate commission. Both are different; I think you understand the point. Reply

Rather than focusing on your most “successful” topics in terms of page views, find some of the more profitable products or services you offer but haven’t written much about successfully. To find that hole in your content marketing strategy, do the necessary keyword research for the product/service.

28. Automate Everything When I say automate everything, it doesn't mean you should start creating blog posts using automated tools. It means hiring someone to write your posts, seeking SEO help from others, increasing your sales by hiring a marketer, etc. We all know blogging means doing a lot of things from creating content to posting on social media to increase SEO traffic to boosting your sales. If your blog starts generating money, you can spend up to 50% on hiring others to automate your blogging needs. That way you can save a lot of time, and you can use that time to make more money online. It might sound silly at first, but you don’t actually own your blog. It’s hosted on someone else’s web property and they can delete it if they want so. They have done so in the past, and keep doing it in the future. Which means all your hard work on your blog, all those countless hours of writing blog posts might be vanished within seconds. Sad…

Sharon February 18, 2016 at 3:23 am Thank you for these useful tips, Brooke! I’m taking the plunge to work with a designer because I’m spotty with coding. I’m looking forward to taking my blog to the next level. You are one of my prime inspirations to keep on blogging and encouraging people to discover the wonders of travel!

Every so often someone comes at me with a kind of obnoxious attitude. At that point I ask them to explain their perspective in more detail, like I do with polite dissenting responses. The obnoxious person either stops being obnoxious because they can’t back up their stance, or they appreciate having an opportunity express their thoughts more fully, which makes them soften their tone and be less obnoxious as a result.

As I said, for any new blog your content is what will drive people to your blog. Consistency is very important for first few months (And also later), to keep your blog growing. You need to work on creating regular content and blog promotion. Another working tip is to write effective titles, which will make readers to read more.

Shweta Agnihotri First of all, I want to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I am using Reddit and hubpages to drive traffic but unfortunately, I got banned from hubpages. do you have any idea to get unbanned from hubpages.? Reply

So that’s my advice: be ready for the long haul, and be prepared for your blog to take some time and hard work before it begins to take off. Stick with it, think smart and plan out your success strategies carefully. It’s key to achieving your goals – and they won’t happen overnight!

Ah, such a rarity to find a fellow blogger that throws all the “rules” to the wind and just does what they please. What a refreshing read – and encouraging, too, considering that you’re a prime example of success. Thank you for this, Erin. XO

Once you start blogging, it's easy to forget that blogging isn't just about getting new visitors to your blog. One of the biggest benefits of blogging is that it helps you steadily grow an email list of subscribers you can share your new content with. Each time you publish a new blog post, your subscribers will give you that initial surge of traffic -- which, in turn, will propel those posts' long-term success.

The idea is that if you write about something that’s already in the news or the national consciousness, you know readers will be searching for it. You become more relevant, easier to find based on what they are searching for and can pick up new readers just by putting out a tempting and timely topic.

I personally saw so many of my blogging friends launching new blogs when their current blog is just started getting some momentum. What happens when you focus on two blogs at a time? You can’t make profitable neither of them. Unless and until you have build a blog so large that you don’t have to depend on it and once you start getting sales automatically without your interference, starting another blog is a waste of time. This has been proven true in all the successful bloggers journeys from Pat Flynn to Darren Rowse to Neil Patel. They NEVER launched a new blog until their existing blog started growing on automation. So, if you are craving to launch a new blog when your existing blog is just taking off, limit your temptations and focus on automation. Once it’s done, you can launch another blog. That’s how you build successful online business by focusing on ONE thing at a time. #BloggingTips - Think Twice Before Launching Another Blog Click to Tweet

Hi. Thank you for your informative post. I’m still looking for the best (least expensive or free) value to use my own domain (not with wordpress.com or the like in the domain name). If you’ve included this information somewhere, I have missed it. I also didn’t see it on the comparison chart? I’m sure it’s probably there, but maybe worded differently…? Thank you again.

Premium Backlinks

Hi Onibalusi, Nice Post! But i want you to ask that.. Is there a trick(or a whole process) that can help me to rank my particular blog post? If there is, please enlighten me so that i can rank my particular posts higher at SERPs. Thanks

Next, you need to get the best guest post link(s) you can. Guest blogging works to build links because you can put links to your website in your post, and usually in your author bio.

How To Get High Quality Backlinks – Always Works - FroshGeek

Newsjacking is when you capitalize on the popularity of a news story to amplify your own sales and marketing success. If you're the first blogger to comment on a news event, you'll rise to the top of the SERPs due to the "freshness" component of Google's algorithm, and others will link to your content in their own accounts of the story. Read this blog post for four newsjack formulas to get you started.

Maira sheikh February 22, 2016 at 11:27 am / Reply Hey Felix, great to read such informative content. I have developed my website in november 2015 but i am unable to get backlinks. I don’t understand the reason but on checking google analytics i observed that whenever i update 2- 3 articles a day, my page views increases. please help me offering some suggestion.

I am struggling to get backlinks for an event listing calendar that our company offers. For this, we aren’t writing blog posts about it or anything, we are simply providing great content for people to find things to do for fun with friends, for a date night, or even just events that somebody is passionate about. I want to do this right and know that it is a useful resource for people to find things to do, however, the hardest part is getting the word out about it. How do I get people to backlink to our calendar?

Yogesh July 21, 2015 at 11:52 am / Reply Hi, I was looking for something like and this and after a lot of searches I found your article. It was very helpful and very enjoyable to read. Creating Backlinks is a crucial task and no one likes to sit and write for others or comment on other blogs just to get a backlink but as we know that to rank above you need a lot of backlinks. I will surely try Guest Posting method very soon. It may result in a good way (I hope )

For example, let’s look at the key phrase “content marketing.” With a quick search, I was able to find this question, asking if content marketing actually works.

Finally, one last tip: Always create links for the person clicking on them. Don’t think about backlinks as a way of promoting your business – think about them as a way of helping the people who will be clicking on them. As long as you focus on other people, the traffic will come naturally – especially because this mindset will subtly influence your posts and make it clear that you’re trying to help.

Tip 5: Pitch your best content to websites. Another strategy to obtain backlinks is to email the webmasters on your target list with a pitch to link into your content. If the content is good enough or relevant enough to their sites' target audience, they may consider your request. Provide them with anchor keyword phrases you’d like to have linking into your site, and be patient. They may take weeks to respond.

SEO algorithms is changing daily, but people would hardly share the new tricks and tips. Relevant back-linking will continue dominating 90% of the SEO, the rest 10% to be taken by relevant content. Thank you.

Building links was once an easy and almost automated affair, but now if I want to build links for my website, I need to work for them. Not only that, but I need to create a profile that shows backlinks coming from other sites, that way it’s varied in where they come from and which pages they are leading to. Today I’ll show you what defines a high-quality backlink in 2016 and beyond, followed by an infographic that will give you all of today’s top strategies for building the best links. How to spot high-quality backlinks Whether you’re trying to find guest posting opportunities by perusing social media, or you’re simply trying to make contact with other bloggers, you should understand exactly what defines a high-quality backlink before you start building them. Here are the things to look out for: It comes from a relevant source - You don’t want backlinks from sites that are outside your niche or not even remotely related to your own. The link is from a trusted website - Big sites like Wikipedia, BBC, and so on are high-quality, but for others you should look at the TrustRank and Domain Authority (DA) they have. The backlink brings in traffic - The entire purpose of a backlink is to send quality traffic to your site. If your backlinks aren’t sending traffic, they’re not worth having. Your Backlink is within the page’s content - High-quality backlinks always appear within content. They shouldn’t be placed outside of the main area on their page. Keep in mind that these characteristics are part of ongoing changes Google makes to its algorithm. Take a look at the infographic below for plenty more strategies for building your backlink profile. Let us know how it helps you in the comments below! *This post is a guest article and infographic which was created for After Digital by Matt Banner of On Blast Blog.

Thanks for this informative post… I notice some of the method are doable for me and some are not but am more interested about guest posting because you again a link and also traffic. I have a question, I will be glad if someone can help me out. I run a multi niche blog and when I do a guest post in one of my different niches do I link to my homepage or link to the specific niche category, example abcd.com/category/health. . Something like that

You might think that this is cliche, but the numbers and stats have it, any offer that has the word FREE will increase the conversion rate significantly. The word “FREE” is magical in the marketing world. So offer lots of free downloads on your site. People will spread the word about them.

Hi Neil, Great awesome content as usual….I always return to read your blog posts here and on your personal site at neilpatel.com again and again, for both insights and inspiration!

Step 2: Leave meaningful and valuable comments. Don’t simply say “Hey, great post” and then drop in a link – that’s spam. Instead, try focusing on an idea in the article, providing a nuanced and measured response, and wrapping up with a link to an article that continues your ideas and helps further explain why you feel the way you do. Remember, if you come off as both authoritative and intelligent, people are more likely to click. Your audience is the blog’s other readers, and they are the ones you should be writing for.

A good inbound link comes from an authoritative website, and uses natural anchor text. Anchor text is simply the text copy that's hyperlinked, like this. (The anchor text there is "like this.") Natural anchor text means you're not just hyperlinking keywords left and right. Google understands the context of a link, so more generic "learn more" and "click here" anchor text can be just as valuable as keyword-optimized anchor text.

Yummie, will implement this ASAP on my new niche site. Probably it will convert well also. By the way, where do you come up with such names “The Moving Man Method”, it’s catchy, but lol

Hey Razwan, great article! while running an audit, there are four types of links namely high, average, low and no categories. as you said high quality links need to be considered to boost a site’s authority. what about other types of links? how should we consider them ? Reply

Hi Felix, its 2015 but here I am reading your post. That’s very true what you said about trusting no one. I was once in a stagnated stage trying to adapt all the guides and tips that there is provided online. It is true that to be successful, one has to find his own way to find a strategy that works for you. Cheers, thank you for sharing this to us!

varyhelp December 1, 2015 at 6:55 pm / Reply A bunch of good strategies for beginner’s. But one thing is not clear to me that, when I start link building? I think, frist of all building good relationship with same peers or niche’s is important because, it is all about the crowd and community who is interested to hear from you. So it is very important to build a community or regular audience first and then focus on build the backlinks.

Greg October 7, 2016 at 3:59 am / Reply Hi Felix, Congratulations for your great post about link building. I am a big fan of the broken link building strategy and have had good success with it. My favorite tool is the “Check my links” Google Chrome extension to check web pages for broken links. If I find a broken link, I email the webmaster and ask him/her if they would like to replace it with my link. I think the broken link building strategy is a great way to obtain new backlinks because you actually help fellow webmasters fix their websites and you establish a healthy relationship with them in the same time. With this one strategy, you get more backlinks, your website ranks higher on Google, and you help the Internet be a better place

In-content backlinks (i.e. backlinks within a block of text) are the most likely to be editorial links, which are exactly the type of links that search engines value most, and if a link is included early on in a piece of content then it’s natural to assume that the author of that content considers it be an important link. Therefore, a backlink within the main content area of a page, and towards the top of that content area, is considered to be more high quality than a link lower down the page or in the sidebar or footer.

This is a great post. I am currently paying a company $750 a month to help with SEO on my site, and they are primarily working on building backlinks. After reading your post, I am wondering if I should use your techniques to build the backlinks myself instead of paying this company all this money that I don’t have.

As I mentioned in a previous article on SEO, one of the criteria Google uses to rank results in its search engine is the number of external links an particular URL has linking to it. The more high-quality links an article has, the higher it will rank.

It’s logical that a high quality backlink would come from a high quality website, and that a high quality site would also be a very trustworthy site. To determine if a website is trustworthy, search engines use a set of trusted seed sites (for example, Wikipedia, BBC, The Huffington Post, etc.), which they know for sure are high quality and which are difficult to get links from. The fewer the number of links away a site is from one of the seed sites, the higher its TrustRank is, and the higher the quality a link from that site is.

The Community Eyecare Review, commissioned by Health Secretary Shona Robison last year, has published today. Chaired by Hamish Wilson, the review looks at care provided by community optometrists and how this can be developed and enhanced. The review comes a decade after the introduction of free eye examinations and recommends schemes to reduce geographical differences in services.  It also advises more tailored arrangements for patients with specific complex needs to support care closer to home. It suggests some eye services traditionally offered in hospitals, like post-cataract surgery appointments and managing stable glaucoma patients, should be made available locally. This is already happening in some parts of Scotland. Other recommendations include: Localised campaigns to promote the importance of eye tests, particularly among communities where attendance is lowest. The creation of a national list of optometrists and dispensing opticians - improving service planning and reducing duplication. Better monitoring and coordination of optometry in care homes. More extensive provision of aids to help people with low vision.

If you wrongly make a claim for an NHS-funded sight test or optical voucher, you may be sent a penalty charge notice. You would have to pay the cost of the sight test and the value of the voucher charge, plus a penalty charge of up to £100. You may also be prosecuted for an offence that can lead to a criminal record.

Whenever you see anyone wearing some cool specs, you’ll know they’ll have gotten them from us.  Spectacles are no longer just an optical aid to correct your vision, your glasses are an integral part of how you look, how you feel and how other people perceive you. We are very proud to boast of a very large, specially selected range of frames for men. We have budget frames to mid-range all the way to the top. Read more

Here at Didsbury Eyecare we pride ourselves on our Children’s Testing.  Our test is designed to be a fun experience in a relaxing atmosphere.  We advise that children should have their first eye examination at around three years old. Learning difficulties can sometimes be caused by uncorrected vision problems, so the earlier they can be detected, the better the chance of correcting them.

At Didsbury Eyecare we use ophthalmic lenses made by CARL ZEISS a leading German lens manufacturer. These lenses are manufactured using technologically advanced lens materials and are the result of the latest research and development in the field of optics. In our specialist Glazing Laboratory, we stock an extensive range of single-vision prescription lenses, including ultra-thin lenses for short sighted and long sighted spectacles prescriptions. Raw chocolate and cocoa are known to boost energy and help brain function. Sluggishness and fatigue are often a common symptom of a magnesium deficiency in the body. Stay away from processed chocolate, as it’s not as healthy for you as cocoa, which can also treat irritability.

Thank you, dark chocolate, for making us feel good—not guilty—about dessert. Dark chocolate is filled with flavonoid antioxidants (more than 3 times the amount in milk chocolate) that keep blood platelets from sticking together and may even unclog your arteries. It may also help with weight loss by keeping you feeling full, according to a study from Denmark. Researchers gave 16 participants 100 g of either dark or milk chocolate and 2 hours later offered them pizza. Those who consumed the dark chocolate ate 15% fewer calories than those who had milk chocolate, and they were less interested in fatty, salty, and sugary foods. Try a chocolate with 70% or more cocoa. Stay away from processed chocolate, as it’s not as healthy for you as cocoa, which can also treat irritability. Red pepper has been recommended for providing pregnant women with an energy boost. Oats are rich in calcium, magnesium, vitamin E and vitamin B, potassium and protein and are a great energy boost. Why not start-the-day with a bowl of porridge to beat morning tiredness. For many it's not sugar so much as salty, savoury foods they crave in the afternoon. If this sounds like you forget the crisps and opt instead for spiced nuts, seeds and savoury popcorn or enjoy low-fat cream cheese on crackers.

Tomatoes are our most common source of lycopene, an antioxidant that may protect against heart disease and breast cancer. The only problem with tomatoes is that we generally eat them in the form of sugar-loaded jarred spaghetti sauce or as a thin slice in a sandwich. For a healthier side dish idea, quarter plum tomatoes and coat with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Roast in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes, and serve with chicken. (Also try these 17 tempting tomato recipes!)

Garlic can be off-putting in romantic situations, but it’s actually known to help boost the sex drive. It contains allicin, which is known to increase blood flow which will strengthen erections. Allicin also boosts the immune system and garlic is known to prevent cancer.

Native to South America, this tropical fruit is an excellent source of skin-healing vitamin C, with 250% of your RDA per serving. One cup of guava has nearly 5 times as much C as a medium orange (377 mg versus 83 mg)—that’s more than 5 times your daily need. It’s also loaded with lycopene (26% more than a tomato), which may help lower your risk of heart disease. And according to research by microbiologists in Bangladesh, guava can even protect against foodborne pathogens such as Listeria and staph. You can buy guava juice, or simmer chunks in water as you would to make applesauce. Guava also makes a super smoothie: Blend 1/2 banana, 1/2 ripe guava, a handful of strawberries, 1/2 cup soy milk, and a few ice cubes. (Keep the blender going with 20 more super healthy smoothies.)

jessybrain 10th Jun, 2014 What about it? A balanced diet for men includes: For vitamins, minerals and fiber, eat at least 2 cups of fruits and 2½ cups of vegetables each day. Whole grains. Eat at least half of all grains as whole grains each day. Replace refined grains with whole-grain bread, cereal, pasta, brown rice or oats. At least two to three servings of fish per week. At least 38 grams of fiber a day for younger men; 30 grams of fiber a day for men older than 50. Unsaturated fats such as oils, nuts and oil-based salad dressings in place of saturated fats including full-fat dairy foods, butter and high-fat sweets. 4,700 milligrams a day of potassium from fruits, vegetables, fish and milk.

Broccoli is rich in fiber, calcium, potassium, folate and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are compounds which reduce the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Broccoli also contains vitamin C, as well as beta-carotene, an antioxidant.

Like most orange vegetables, pumpkins are crammed with beta carotene, which your body naturally converts to vitamin A, also known as retinol. That’s a good thing, because retinol is important for healthy skin and mucous membranes, as well as immune function and vision. Pumpkin seeds also contain protective compounds called phytosterols, which may help combat an enlarged prostate. The seeds are great lightly salted and roasted, and pumpkin flesh is delicious in everything from pancakes to smoothies (and these 20 perfect pumpkin recipes prove it!).

Kiwi is high in vitamin C, potassium, antioxidants and fibre. Recent studies have found that eating a kiwi a day 1 hour before bed led to significant improvements to the quality and quantity of sleep. The fruit can also boost the immune system, respiratory function and improve heart health.

When you think of potassium-rich produce, figs probably don’t come to mind, but you may be surprised to learn that six fresh figs have 891 mg of the blood pressure-lowering mineral, nearly 20% of your daily need—and about double what you’d find in one large banana. In a recent 5-year study from the Netherlands, high-potassium diets were linked with lower rates of death from all causes in healthy adults age 55 and older. Figs are one of the best fruit sources of calcium, with nearly as much per serving (six figs) as 1/2 cup of fat-free milk. Serve by chopping and adding to yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, or green salads. Or enjoy them as a savory snack: Cut a slit in the side and stuff with 1/2 teaspoon of a low-fat version of a soft cheese such as chevre or Brie.

Tuna is very popular in Western countries, and tends to be low in fat and calories, but high in protein. It is perfect people who need to add more protein to their diets, while keeping calories low.

I created 2 mueslis for my patients to use throughout their treatments and their results were beyond what I expected….the rest is history. I sold my stores and decided to create a brand that encapsulates everything I believed in and what the key naturopathic principle is “prevention is better than cure”. Now that I am a mum to 2 beautiful children, my passion for healthier food and educating on the importance of good nutrition, is stronger than ever. Even though we still have a long way to go, I am proud of my little Aussie company and I smile every time I hear from a customer telling me that my products have made their life that little bit easier and healthier! That is what it is all about. So from humble beginnings, Food for Health now supplies Coles, Woolworths, Costco, Virgin airlines, health food stores, independent supermarkets. We also export to over 10 countries. It is certainly a long way from when I used to hand mix the muesli, however I am more passionate, driven and determined than ever before. And Yes……it’s still a labour of love. Narelle xxx

One of the healthiest fruits you should be eating is one you probably already are: the apple. The Iowa Women’s Health Study, which has been investigating the health habits of 34,000 women for nearly 20 years, named apples as one of only three foods (along with pears and red wine) that are most effective at reducing the risk of death from heart disease among postmenopausal women. Other massive studies have found the fruit to lower risk of lung cancer and type 2 diabetes—and even help women lose weight. In fact, one of the only things that could make an apple unhealthy is mixing it with sugar, flour, and butter and stuffing it into a mile-high pie. Instead, have one as an afternoon snack with a tablespoon of peanut butter, or add slices to sandwiches or salads.

It may not be a trendy superfood, but a 4-oz serving of this low-cal staple contains nearly half of your daily protein. Chicken breasts are a great source of phosphorous—important for strong bones and teeth—as well as vitamin B3 (aka niacin), which helps control high blood pressure and prevents hardening of the arteries. One serving also contains 25% of the vitamin B6 you need each day to maintain proper brain and immune system function.

Bell peppers come in several colors, including red, yellow and green. They are crunchy and taste very sweet, and are a great source of antioxidants and vitamin C.

Yogurt is a great way to get calcium, and it’s also rich in immune-boosting bacteria. But next time you hit the yogurt aisle, pick up the Greek kind—compared with regular yogurt, it has twice the protein (and 25% of women over 40 don’t get enough). Look for fat-free varieties like Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt (90 calories and 15 g of protein per 5.3-ounce serving).

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect food than beans. One cooked cupful can provide as much as 17 g fiber. They're also loaded with protein and dozens of key nutrients, including a few most women fall short on—calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Studies tie beans to a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and breast and colon cancers. The latest dietary guidelines recommend consuming at least 3 cups of beans a week—3 times the measly 1 cup we usually get. Keep your cupboards stocked with all kinds: black, white, kidney, fat-free refried, etc. Use them in salads, stuffed baked potatoes, and veggie chili or pureed for sandwich spreads.

Pears are another great remedy for constipation. They act as natural laxatives loosening the stool so it can pass gently through the intestines. Plus, research found that women who ate 3 pears a day compared to those who didn’t, consumed less calories and lost more weight.
